Melvin Douglas Strawn passed away October 24, 2000 at Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County. He was born on May 9, 1944 in Martinsville, Virginia to the late William Martin Strawn and the late Ruth Hairston Strawn.

Melvin was retired from GSA as a Sales Representative. He was also a Veteran of the United States Air Force.

Those left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Melvin, Jr. And Patrick; a daughter, Claressa; four sisters, Barbara Williams, Delphine S. Draper, Maxine S. Martin and Rita Agnew; one brother, James Strawn; one grandson and many other relatives and friends.

Melvin was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Woodruff Strawn.

Both Melvin and Patricia are buried in the same site, together again.
