Welda Phillips Aldridge, age 90, of Crossnore, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 10th, 2015 at Charles A. Cannon Jr. Memorial Hospital.
A native of Avery County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. E.H. and Sarah Maltba Phillips and the wife of Dock Aldridge, who passed away in 1991. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ann Aldridge Harding; a brother, Duard Phillips and sisters: Dot Cornett, Florence Weatherman, Alma Barrier and Lois Robinson. Welda was the oldest living member of Higher Ground Church of God. She loved the Lord, cooking for her family and friends and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving is her daughter, Marcella Aldridge Livert of Crossnore; son, Jerral Aldridge and wife, Betty Singleton Aldridge, of Hickory; sister, Christine Townsend and husband, Alvin, of Icard; brother, Bill Phillips and wife, Doris, of North Cove; grandchildren: Chantae Johnson, Chrystal Eckard, Scott Aldridge, Brett Aldridge, Shane Livert and Shannon Livert; 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great, great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 15th at Higher Ground Church of God. Rev. Joshua Earl and Herbert Pritchard will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Higher Ground Church of God at P.O. Box 7, Pineola, NC 28662.
