AUBURN — Mildred M. Stephenson, 88, died Saturday at 8:55 a.m. in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne, where she had been a patient for two weeks.
Mrs. Stephenson was a home-maker and lived most of her life in rural Auburn. She was a member of Meese Chapel United Methodist Church.
She was born April 24, 1909, in Allen County to the late William and Roselyn (Kistler) Surface.
Her first husband, Kenneth J. Hefty, died in 1964. She married J. Roy Stephenson in 1970, and he died in January 1997.
Surviving her are one son, William B. Hefty of Fort Wayne; one daughter, Peggy Schurr of Auburn; one stepson, Jerry Stephenson of Norwalk, Calif.; one stepdaughter, LuAnn Russell of Ceritos, Calif.; two sisters, Dora Houser of Aubum and Grace Bender of Leo; 10 grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Five brothers, Leonard, Ralph, Jess, Walter and Sam, preceded her in death.
Friends may call Tuesday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. in McComb, Dilgard A. Cline Funeral Home, Auburn.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home by the Rev. Eugene Woolever, pastor of Meese Chapel United Methodist Church. Burial Will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Auburn.
Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
