Louise Core Piestrak, 93, of McLeansville, N.C., passed away Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Ashton Place after several months of failing health. She was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Paris to Julius Horace Core and Hattie Herring Core. She was married for more than 66 years to Emil Stanley “Pete” Piestrak Sr., who died in 2011. She was a veteran of the Army Air Corps and served during World War II. Louise was a homemaker, an avid golfer, bridge player and an excellent seamstress. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Aberdeen, N.C.

Louise is survived by her daughter, Pamela “Pam” Buchholz and her husband Robert of Burlington, N.C.; her son, Emil Stanley Piestrak Jr. and his wife Norma of Sanford, N.C.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Ann McCormick of Stillwater, Okla.; and three brothers, Pat (Margie) Core of Tulsa, J.H. (Linda) Core of Greenwood and Dan (Jean) Core of Paris.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and six siblings.

Funeral service was conducted Monday at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel and Crematory in Burlington by father Jim Buchholz.
