A visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, in Southern Pines. A funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 10 a.m., with the Rev. S. James Buchholz officiating. Rite of committal will be at a later date, at St. Mary's Cathedral Church of the Immaculate Conception, in Wilkes Barre, Pa.
Mr. Piestrak was born Dec. 19, 1918, in Peely, Pa., to the late Roman Piestrak and Sophie "Fryn" Piestrak. He was a teacher at Pinecrest High School and a high school referee for five decades.
Mr. Piestrak is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nannie Louise Core Piestrak; a son, Emil Stanley Piestrak Jr. and wife, Norma, of Sanford; a daughter, Pamela Buchholz and husband, Robert, of Burlington; a brother, Louie Piestrak, of Danville, Pa.; and three granddaughters, Audrey Frasca and husband, Maximilian, of Raleigh, Stacey Marjoram and husband, Jeffrey, of Wilmington, and Christina Buchholz, of Philadelphia. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Roman, Hank, Frankie and Eddie; and two sisters, Emily and Florence.
