Franklin Brutsman was born in Pennsylvania, Nov. 2, 1841. At an early age he removed to Illinois where he enlisted as a private in Co. E. 92nd Illinois Volunteer Infantry and served during the Civil War. He married Elizabeth Short and in 1870 removed to Madison Township, Jones County, Iowa, where he resided for a time and then removed to Jasper County, where he remained fifteen years and since that time has resided with different members of his family. For the past two years he has made his home with his daughter Grace Axline in Anamosa and was in good health until this spring when he failed rapidly. During the past few weeks he has been bedfast until his death was only a question of time. He passed away June 26, 1916 at the age of 75 years and seven months. His death was due to cardiac insufficiency.
Mr. Brutsman was a widower and is survived by several children including Mrs. Axline of Anamosa, Howard Brutsman of Wyoming, Harry of Anamosa and Frank of Strawberry Point.
The funeral took place Wednesday morning from the Axline home and Burial was in the Wyoming Cemetery where the father of the deceased was buried many years ago.
