Mrs. Lucy Brutsman died at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, on Thursday, December 30 at 9 o'clock a. m., of pneumonia, age 75 years, 4 months and 29 days. Lucy Ann Fox was born in New York [sic], August 1, 1851. At the age of 12 her parents came west to Illinois, where she grew to womanhood. She came to Wyoming, Iowa, in the year 1871, she was united in marriage to Samuel Woodward, he dying on February 17, 1882. To this union were born six children. In 1884 she was married to Frank Brutsman, to this union six children were born, two dying in infancy. Mrs. Brutsman had been an invalid for five years, not being able to leave her chair without help.
She leaves to mourn her loss Chas S. Woodward of Coggon, Frank Woodward of Central City, William Woodward of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Clara Harrington of Cascade, Marshall Woodward of Prairieburg, Mrs. Grace Axline of Anamosa, Earl Brutsman of Hopkinton, Elmer Brutsman of Central City, and Mrs. Dalla Henderson of Onslow, and Mrs. Rosa Cole of Puyallup, Wash. There are also 32 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Beam & Miller undertaking parlors on Saturday, January 1, with burial at Wyoming. Six sons of the deceased acted as pallbearers.
