George was a 1976 graduate of the David H. Hickman High School. He was employed by the City of Columbia in the water treatment division. He was later employed for 18 years by State Farm Insurance in Columbia, Tulsa and Atlanta. He was the pitcher for the Harry All Star’s baseball team. He enjoyed all sports but especially the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Braves. He loved to cook, enjoyed a variety of foods and was known for his abilities to fry turkey.
George is survived by five sisters: Helen P. Derrick of Bluegrass, IA.; Sherley A. Crum Hayes; Joyce M Williams; Frances M. Bush; Dorothy E. Crum all of Columbia; two brothers: William E. (Mary) Crum; Herbert W. (Eunice) Crum; Sr. all of Columbia; two “like brothers”: Meredith Vaughan; Ed Tibbs both of Columbia; three special nieces: Ladonna Crum of Columbia; Trivia Crum of Columbia; Tammy Houston of Overland Park, KS; a special nephew: Jabbar Crum of Columbia; two special cousins: Beverly Gardner; Racine Vaughn; sixteen nieces and nephews; thirty six great nieces and nephews; forty four great-great nieces and nephews; and a host of loving cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents: George A. (Buck) Crum, Sr. and Barbara O. Johnson Crum; one sister: Delmarae Crum; both maternal and paternal grandparents; seven aunts and four uncles; two nieces and one nephew.
Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June13, 2014 at Millard Family Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church with the Reverend David P. Ballenger officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
