Uncle Robert lived in Procterville, OH in an assisted living facility prior to being hospitalized and passing in St Mary's Hospital in Huntington, WV.
He was the youngest child of Charles D and Rosie (Marshall) Trout. Brother to Mary (Trout)Simpkins, Shirly (Trout) Tiller, Eloise Trout, and John William Trout all deceased prior to Uncle Robert. Uncle Robert served his country in WWII with the Army's 10th Mountain Division most of which was in Italy. This was an elite group that was picked for mountain climbing and/or skiing skills. They cleared out the Germans in strong holds in the mountains. They lost a lot of men and saw a lot of fighting. (I did not learn of the nature of the unit until after his death in an article in Daytona Beach News Journal by another vet from that unit.
He was married over 50 years to Naida (Curnutte) Trout who predeceased him on Oct 9, 2013.
Uncle Robert was retired from The Detroit Toledo Shoreline R.R. in Toledo, OH. Upon retirement he and Aunt Naida moved to Friendship, OH prior to moving to Procterville, OH in 1994.
They did extensive traveling and camping throughout their early to mid married years. In retirement he enjoyed fishing at Shawnee State Park and also on the Ohio River.
He is missed very much by nieces; Peggy Simpkins Thompson, Rose Trout Baker, Peggy Trout Fodor. Sue Damron Wilson, Judy Damron Hilton, Joanne Damron Watts. Nephews; Jim Trout, Great-Nephews & Great-Nieces too many to list but including;Robert Bartram, John Marc Bartram. Predeceased by niece, Sue Bartram, nephew, Keith Simpkins.
He never was a dad but he would have been a great one.
