Dan's parents came from Sweden in 1901, purchasing their property in 1904 where Dan was born with his twin sister, Doris, who were the youngest of eleven children.
At the home where he went to buy his first beagle, he met the love of his life, Joan Forslund and they married on November 15, 1947, sharing the same anniversary date of November 15 with Dan's parents.
They had "my three sons" during their marriage and also cared for Dan's mother, Hanna, on the family homestead throughout the remainder of her life.
Dan worked at Thompson Boat Factory for many years and was also a dairy farmer. He left farming to become a Union carpenter/millwright.
Additionally, Dan and Joan raised and sold several breeds of dogs and had a grooming service.
Dan and his wife started purchasing and renovating rental properties in the twin cities and this continued throughout the 57 years of their wedded bliss.
Dan worked hard his entire life, from sun up to beyond sun down, many nights cutting firewood by moonlight with his sons. He finally slowed his work schedule down enough so he and Joan could travel throughout the U.S. and Alaska in their motor home.
Fully retiring in his 80's, his greatest enjoyment was his family, music and his love of dancing. He will be remembered most for his always pleasant nature and his constant smile.
Dan is survived by his sons: Daniel, Duane (Denise) and Bryan (Sally);
grandchildren: Ben, Kristen, Beth, Erik, Bree, Carrie, Rachel and Britta;
great-grandchildren: Hadley, Paige, Linden and Anna Lee;
a sister-in-law, Bernice Forslund;
and a brother-in-law, Lloyd "Dutch" Clark.
In addition to his wife, Joan; he was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church in Peshtigo from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2015. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday by the Reverend Robert Karuhn. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Marinette
