Died in 1964 from a blood clot as a result of surgery for a bleeding ulcer. He was a fine musician and singer. He was the leader of small local band. He played multiple string instruments never learned to read music. Mother loved him until the day she died. He was a steel mill craneman,and carpenter, roofer. His parents died young and he was sent to live with his Aunt Mary Ellen. His brothers and sister were sent to various relatives and friends.

Forrest R. Ackerman, 45, of RD #1, Glenns Run, Martins Ferry, OH died Mon.,Dec. 14, 1964 at Martins Ferry Hospital, Martins Ferry. He was born Sept.19, 1919 in Woodsfield a son of Jacob and Edna (Dougherty) Ackerman.
He was an employee of the Yorkville Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel ,a member of the First Christian Church, Martins Ferry and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Surviving are his wife Freda (Ward) Ackerman, four sons, Forrest R.,Charles R. , Rickie L. , and Terry R. Ackerman all of the home, a daughter Margaret D. Ackerman of the home, a brother Gilbert Ackerman and a sister Mrs. Harry (Gladys) Baker.
Friends will be recieved at the Heslop Funeral Home, 409 Walnut St.,MartinsFerry, OH where services will be conducted Wed. at 1:30 pm with Rev. Dean Warren officiating. Burial follows in Riverview Cemetery, Martins Ferry.
