Chester Frederick Ackerman, 36, Baltimore musician, died Saturday in Baltimore, Md. while undergoing brain surgery. He played in several name bands in Baltimore.
The deceased was born Aug. 2, 1916, at Woodsfield, a son of the late Jacob and Edna Dougherty Ackerman and was baptized in St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed Church here.
Surviving are three children; Geraldine, Chester and Patricia of Baltimore; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Sumption of Woodsfield and Mrs. Harry Baker of Rayland and two brothers, Forrest and Gilbert, both of Martins Ferry.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning at St. Paul's church here with Rev. H. J. Kopke officiating. Burial was made in Oaklawn cemetery by the Burford funeral home of Tiltonsville.
