"Members of the family announced funeral services will be held Wednesday for W.D. Amsberry, well known Box Butte County farmer who passed away shortly before noon Monday after being confined for the past eight weeks at St. Joseph's Hospital. Services will be held from the Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. T.C. Osborne in charge.
The after effects of a recent siege of pneumonia were the only explanation given for the death of Mr. Amsberry, who came to this county from Mason City, Nebraska in 1925 where he had homesteaded with his father 40 years prior to that time. He was 71 years of age at the time of his death.
Mr. Amsberry was born at Arbuckle, Mason County, West Virginia on July 7, 1868 and moved with his family to Nebraska in 1885. He was married to Jennie A. Myers in Mason City in 1897 and their three children now all live at Alliance. They are Mrs. Ruby Brenaman, Lloyd C. Amsberry and Mrs. Hazel Banks. There are three grandchildren.
Surviving relatives, besides those named, include a brother, Francis A. Amsberry of York, Nebraska and one sister, Mrs. Laura J. Fisher of Broken Bow. The deceased had long been affiliated with the Baptist Church.
Burial will be in the Alliance Cemetery. The Landa Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements."
