LeRoy “Roy” Garth Fife, 78, of Idaho Falls, died Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at his home of arterial pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born November 24, 1936, in Lewisville, Idaho, to Aaron Clauvasa Fife and Jessie Juanita Miller Fife. He was raised and attended schools in Menan and Rigby, Idaho. On August 29, 1958, he married Helen Marie Jones in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple; they were blessed with 1 son and 2 daughters. Roy owned and operated Fife’s Texaco in Idaho Falls and Fife’s Sports Sales in Rigby. He also operated a dry farm for several years and managed Walker Farms Trucking Company for over 20 years. Roy also served with the Idaho National Guard where he specialized in radio mechanics.

Roy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in a variety of callings including the Young Men’s Organization, Sunday School Presidency, High Priest Group Secretary, and was a faithful home teacher. Roy’s hobbies included cars, motorcycles, and snowmobiles. He was a master mechanic and could diagnose and repair any mechanical issue.

His pride and joy were his children and grandchildren. His favorite hobby of all was cherishing many treasured moments with his family. He was everyone’s biggest supporter—ball games, dance recitals, concerts, races, pageants, track meets, graduations, birthdays, and the list goes on and on. He never missed an opportunity to show love and support.

Some of Roy’s most admired attributes were his work ethic, his humility, and his quiet sense of service. He possessed an uncanny ability to anonymously help those in need. Roy was a friend to all, never turning away anyone in need.

He is survived by his wife, Helen Jones Fife; son, Greg (Debbie) Fife; daughters, Allyson (Keith) Walker and Stefani (Cory) Cook—all of Idaho Falls; sisters, Glenda Kidwell of Idaho Falls and Karen (Tom) Jenson of Rigby; brothers DuWayne (Dena) Fife of St. George, Utah, Darwin (Marilyn) Fife of Island Park, Ronald (Shelia) Fife of Parker, and Paul (Cheryl) Fife of Idaho Falls; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Roy, husband, father, brother, and grandfather, will be so deeply missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Colleen Gneiting and ElDora Miller, and brothers, Aaron Fife and Kenneth Fife.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Mountain View Lane in Idaho Falls. The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Monday evening and 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in the Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. Services are under the care of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
