William R. Lake Sr., 62, Rt. 5,
Box 192, Monticello, died Wednesday,
July 14, 1982, at 7:45 p.m. in
Indiana Veteran’s Hospital, Indianapolis,
where he had been since
July 12. He had been ill since
December 26, 1981.
Born February 16, 1920, at
Lafayette, he was the son of Elbert
and Ada Atwell Lake. His marriage
on July 2, 1949, was to Georgia L.
Snyder. He had lived in Mulberry
and Colfax areas and in 1968 moved
from Lafayette to Rt. 5, Monticello.
He worked for Monon Railroad and
truck driver. He served in the Air
Force during World War II and was
a member of Delphi American
Legion.
Surviving are his mother, Ada
Lake of Lafayette; one son, Bill
Lake Jr. of Rt. 2, Monticello; three
brothers, Raymond Lake of
Lafayette, Alvin Lake of Otterbein,
and Elbert Lake Jr. of Rossville; six
sisters, Katherine Felix and Mrs.
Earnest (Lucile) Niccum of
Lafayette, Helen Brummett of
Rossville, Mrs. William (Lue) Stine
of Monticello, Isebella Morgan of
Georgia, and Mrs. William (Leana)
Gillenback of Odel, and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday at
Thompson Funeral Home with Rev.
Clark Shearer officiating. Burial
was in Yeoman Cemetery with
military graveside rites.
Memorials were suggested for
Delphi American Legion and Monticello
Paramedic Fund.
