Mrs. Georgia Denning McConnell, 82, of Dunn died Wednesday morning at Harnett Woods Nursing and Rehab Center. She was born in Johnston County on December 23, 1931 to the late Bertis Lee and Georgia M. Denning. She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lee McConnell, three brothers; Carl, Bert, Willie Houston Denning, two sisters, Eva D. Cashwell and Edna D. Cashwell.

She was a graduate of Meadow High School and a member of Smyrna OFWB Church.

A funeral service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. at Smyrna OFWB Church by Rev. Richard Whittman and Rev. Wesley Hamilton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by four sons; Johnny McConnell of Benson, Raymond McConnell and wife Charlotte of Dunn, Edward McConnell and wife Dianne of Dunn, George McConnell and wife Annette of Coats, a brother, Granville Denning and wife Peggy of Dunn, a sister, Merdie Best of Mt. Olive, ten grandchildren; Candace Parker and husband Jonathan, Jason McConnell, Josh McConnell and wife Rachel, Lisa Raynor and husband Joey, Adam McConnell, Asia McConnell, Elliott McConnell, Angie Core, Michael McConnell and Emily McConnell, six great grandchildren; Macon Parker, Ella Grace Raynor, Aaron McConnell, Hannah McConnell, Zachery Silvey and Brantley Core.
