Edna Denning Cashwell, 79, sister of Merdie Best of Mount Olive, died Monday at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.
Mrs. Cashwell was a native of Johnston County and was a former resident Dunn. She was the daughter of the late Bertis Lee Denning and Georgia Maynard Denning and was the widow of Ray Brooks Cashwell of Clinton.
In addition to her sister, she is survived by one son, Eddie Ray Cashwell of Virginia Beach, Va., one daughter, Callie Ruth Cashwell of Greensboro; two other sisters, Georgia McConnell of Dunn and Eva Cashwell of Clinton; two brothers, Carl Denning and Granville Denning of Dunn; and three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
