NILES F. "JOE" TOURGEE , 63, of Post Road, a floor man at a fabric company, died Wednesday at home.

Born in Coventry, a son of the late George E. and Christie (Northup) Tourgee , he had lived in Coventry before moving to Warwick in 1978. Mr. Tourgee was a floor man at Coventry Narrow Fabrics for 33 years.

A committee member of the Boy Scouts of America Troop 1284, he had been active with the scouts for many years.

Mr. Tourgee was a member of St. Barnabas Church and the assistant sexton for 32 years. He was a member of the Knights of Yawgoog Senior Honor Society.

He leaves a brother, Irving R. Tourgee of Coventry, and two sisters, Anna E. Tourgee of Coventry and Betty A. Bates of Warwick. He was the brother of the late George F., Edward R. and Robert F. Tourgee Sr., Florence Smith and Winetka M. Leveillee.
