Clark was born August 25, 1897 oldest child of Clark and Ada (Coleman) Wheaton in Galien, Berrien, Michigan, and died August 20, 1976 in Oakland County, Michigan. He grew up in eastern Mason County on Dewey Road on the edge of Sherman and Sheridan township near Fountain. His parents were well known truck farmers in the area where they grew produce to sell at the local markets. Later in life Clark moved to Oakland County to work in the police force in Pontiac, which is where he would be for his remaining years.

He married MINNIE BEATRICE STAPLETON February 02, 1921 in Pontiac, Michigan, He married MARTHA OSENDOSKY October 30, 1939

He had one daughter named Elizabeth Jane Wheaton. He had three grandchildren.

He served as a patrolman, several promotions with his final position as Captain of the Detectives unit.
