William P. Ringer, 89, of Cumberland Crossings and formerly of Alexander Spring Road, Carlisle, died Saturday Aug. 13, 2005, in Carlisle Regional Medical Center.
Born Sept. 21, 1915, in Meyersdale, he was the son of the late Ferris and Edna Shoemaker Ringer and the widower of Alice L. Zimmerman Ringer.
He was a railroad freight conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He was a member of the Plum Creek- Monroeville Lodge F&AM No. 799, Valley of Pittsburgh Scottish Right and Syria Shrine, Pittsburgh. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Monroeville Volunteer Fire Co..
He is survived by a daughter, Jean R. Lewis of Carlisle; two sisters, Lois Peters of Johnstown and Ruth Sheaffer of Somerset; and two brothers, Karl Ringer of Buffalo, N.Y., and Donald Ringer of Tampa, Fla.; and one grandson, Christopher Lewis of Baltimore, Md. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Jay Ringer, and five sisters, Hazel Sipe, Fern Baker, Myrna Madjrich, Mary Newton and Dorothy Felton.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, with the Rev. Richard A. Ruff officiating. There will be no viewing or visitation.
Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home, 219 North Hanover St., Carlisle, is in charge of the funeral arrangements
