She was born January 7, 1934 in Estill County and was the daughter of the late Fred and Willie Richardson Brandenburg. She was a former business owner and a member of the Pine Hill Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the White Shrine and was a Kentucky Colonel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lakes. She is survived by:

2 Sisters: Madonna Jenkins Irvine
