Atkinson, Barbara Ellamay - 76, Truro. It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Barbara Ellamay Atkinson on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 in the Mira Long Term Care Centre, Truro. She was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ethel (Crowe) Fielding. Barbara was a life-long member of the Salvation Army. Her church and family were her life. She is survived by her daughter, Gloria (Harold) MacKinnon; sons, Darrell, Paul, Calvin, Gordon (Tammy) and Jeff (Jennifer); ten grandchildren; two great grandchildren; three sisters and one brother. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her loving husband, Gordon Atkinson; three brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 11th from 6 to 8 p.m. followed by a funeral service on Friday, February 12th at 11 a.m., all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Lieutenant Daniel Rowe officiating. Interment will be in Bible Hill Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society. The family would like to express special thanks to the nurses and staff at the Mira for their love and care of Barbara during her stay with them.
