Obituary - Howard Reuben (Rube) Bennett, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother, 86, passed away Thursday, Dec. 5, 1996.
He was born May 6, 1910 in Kaysville, Utah, a son of James Edward and Eliza Ellen King Bennett. Rube married Mable Leona Williams on October 1, 1934 in Morgan, Utah; their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Rube retired from Hill Air Force Base after 34 years as a conductor on the railroad. He was also a farmer.
He was a lifelong resident of Kaysville and was educated in Davis County schools. Rube loved his family, loved farming, growing things and loved trains. He was an active member of the LDS Church and had held many positions.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mable, Kaysville; one son, Garry James (Karlene) Bennett, Layton; one daughter, Dionne B. (Rudd) Scoffield, Layton; 12 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Melba O'Brien and Afton Elison both of Layton; and Leulla (Howard) Cole, Las Vegas, NV. Rube was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 1996, Kaysville LDS Tabernacle, 198 West Center Street. Friends and family may call Monday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main, and Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 at the Church.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nursing staff and all the doctors at the Davis Hospital for their kindness and loving care. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
