Luella B. Vaughn Cole, 89 of Fruitland passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2009 of natural causes at her home.
She was born on December 4, 1919 in Kaysville, Utah to James Edward Bennett and Eliza Ellen King Bennett. She was the last of eleven grandchildren born to them - 8 girls and 3 boys. She was raised and educated in Kaysville, lived in Ogden, Las Vegas, Nv. Palo Cedro, CA, returned to Las Vegas and then moved to Fruitland in May 1998. Luella married Earl O. Vaughn until 1961 and then later married Howard B. Cole until his death on June 13, 2003. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, first ward in Fruitland. She served in wards in Las Vegas, NV, and Palo Cedro, CA as supervisor and visiting teacher in all of the wards. Luella received her Endowment on May 6, 2000 in Boise and husband Howard Cole was baptized on May 19, 2002 and confirmed on May 26, 2002 to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their marriage was sealed in the Boise Temple in August 2002. She retired from the Clark County School District, Las Vegas, NV after working 22 years in Food Service. She loved being a grandmother and took pride in her home, yard, flowers. She also enjoyed her visiting teaching. She loved to dance and could dance the night away.
She was preceded in death by her husband Howard, mother and father, 3 brothers, 7 sisters and one grandson Darwin Lloyd. She is survived by her son Larry J. (Mary Ann) Vaughn and daughter, Sue Ann (Robert) Bixby all of Fruitland; 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren (7 boys and 3 girls), and 2 great great granddaughters and one great great grandson; many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held at the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel on Sunday, March 29, 2009 from 4 - 6 pm. Funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fruitland on Monday, March 30, 2009 at 1:00 pm. A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Vault interment will follow at Park View Cemetery in New Plymouth.
