William Glaze, minister and flax seed dealer was born 15 Nov 1837 in Brown County, Ohio. He was the first child & first son of James Albert & Mary "Phillips" Glaze.

William was raised on a farm. However, at the age of 10, he became crippled in the left leg so was not able to do much farming. When he was seventeen he began clerking and then farmed for 2 or 3 years in Vermilion County. For eleven years he loaned and handled flax seed.

William married Isabel Young on 17 Feb 1863. She was the daughter of Jesse James & Sarah Jane 'Hill' Young. Jesse was a respectable farmer of Dayton, Indiana.

William served as Police Magistrate, an assessor, village trustee, director of Hoopeston High School for four years. He also became a licensed minister in 1873.

They had 6 children including one adopted:
1. Laura Mae Glaze (1863-1893)
2. James Alvin Glaze (1868-1950)
3. Ida "French" Glaze (1870-) who was the daughter of Isabel's sister Emaline.
4. Jesse Franklin Glaze (1870-1942)
5. William Orne Glaze (1875-1902)
6. George Nie Glaze (1882-1971)

William died 1917 in Sheffield, Tippecanoe County, Indiana.
