Mary H. Ely married G.C. Walstad on 5 April 1909 at her parent's home in Graham, Texas. He preceded her in death.

Services for Mrs. G.C. Walstad, 83, were held in the First United Methodist Church officiated by her pastor, Rev. H. DeWitt Seago. Mrs. Walstad graduated from Graham High School and after attending school, moved to Roberts County in 1906 to teach school. She taught school in Roberts county until 1914. That year, she and her husband moved to Pampa. She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1914 and was the 60th member to join the church. She was a charter member of El Progresso Study Club and a member of WSCS Circle I of First United Methodist Church. She was a retired school teacher.

One son, George C. Walstad, Jr., preceded her in death.
