Born Dolphus M. Carter; changed his name between 1930 and 1940. He married Mattie Murphy in Lawrence Co., AR on 26 Dec 1929. Together they had one son, Robert Gene Carter, born 12 Mar 1931 in Walnut Ridge, Lawrence Co., AR. It is not known what became of Mattie Murphy Carter; she was not living with Willard and Bobby on the 1940 census.


Willard C. Carter, 97, Kansas City,Mo., passed away Feb. 21, 2006.
Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 27, at Mt. Washington Forever Mausoleum Chapel. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Washington Forever Cemetery, Independence, Mo.
