MOSCOW – Avis B. Curtis, 98, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

She was born Oct. 3, 1913, to George W. and Ella May (Waite) Anderson in Stevens County.

She married Raymond Curtis June 18, 1938, in Panhandle, Texas.

She was a member of United Methodist Church of Moscow.

She organized the first Boy Scout troop and also Girl Scout troop in Moscow.

Survivors include, twin sons, Ray Curtis and wife, Dorothy, Billings, Mont., and Roy Curtis, Wichita; one daughter, Zo Roland and husband Garry, Moscow; two sisters, Fanny Kagarice, Hugoton, and Avanell Gaskill, Hugoton; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Raymond Curtis, one daughter, Judith Kay Curtis, six brothers and seven sisters.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Moscow, with the Rev. Tim McCrary presiding.

Burial will be at the Moscow Cemetery.

Friends may call until 6 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Paul’s Funeral Home.
