David E. Davis, 89, of Grafton, died Tuesday, October 16, 2007. He was born April 14, 1918 in Clay County, West Virginia. Mr. Davis lived in the Lorain County area for the last eight years. He resided in Webster County, WV for 52 years.

He was a Coal Miner. He was a member of the Hacker Valley United Methodist Church and Hacker Valley Odd Fellows Lodge.
David was an avid gardener, hunter and fisherman.

He was a kind, loving person who enjoyed family and friends, gospel music and watching westerns on TV.

He is survived by daughters, Juanita (Leo) Bender of Grafton, Joan (John) Martin of Bonita Springs, FL, Delores (Wendell) Simmons of Mansfield; sisters, Minnie Samples of Procious, WV, Katherine (Hobert) Rogers of Hico, WV; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by father, Benjamin Davis; mother, Nancy Ellen (Butcher) Davis; wife, Ruth (Lake) Davis; six brothers; and three sisters.

Friends may call Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 1 P.M. until time of Service at 2 P.M., at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, 155 McGraw Ave., Webster Springs, WV. Rev. Conrad Tenney, French Creek, WV will officiate. Burial will be at Hacker Valley Cemetery, Hacker Valley, WV. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to Hacker Valley United Methodist Church, Hacker Valley, WV or New Life Hospice, 5255 N. Abbe Rd., Elyria, OH 44035
