As a child, Molly was nurtured in her Catholic faith which was further enhanced at Sacred Heart Academy in Waterflow, NM where she graduated in 1941. Molly was taught by the Ursulin nuns and developed a lifelong love and commitment to the Ursulin order. Molly attended nursing school in Denver, CO, but after dissecting a cadaver in anatomy class, decided to study education at Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM. Molly then taught school in Gobernador and was her youngest brother’s (Celso) first grade teacher. Molly helped raise her seven younger siblings during her father’s illness and after his death. During her professional career, she worked for Dr. Queary and at the San Juan County Court House in Aztec, NM. Molly married Loney in 1952 and followed him during his naval career throughout the United States although her heart always remained in New Mexico. They relocated to Albuquerque upon his retirement in 1961. Molly was a devoted parishioner of Holy Ghost Parish before becoming a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph on the Rio Grande in 2007. Molly loved attending daily Mass and was a fervent follower of St. Padre Pio. Molly volunteered in the ministries of the Rosary Altar Society, the Rosary Makers, and was a Eucharistic Minister for shut-ins. Molly was also a member of the Ladies Fleet Reserve Auxiliary, a Birthright Volunteer (interpreter) and as a surviving spouse she was a supporter of the Pearl Harbor Survivor Assoc. Everyone who encountered Molly fell in love with her. Molly always embraced each individual with tenderness, compassion and love and made everyone feel special. Molly welcomed all in her home and never sent anyone home empty handed. Her faithfulness to our Lord was an inspiration to all and we know she is now embraced in our Lord’s loving arms. Always remember that Molly loves you ‘more’. Special thanks to Heritage Hospice and Mariposa Home Health Care for your tender care during Molly’s last days, and to St. Joseph on the Rio Grande family and community.
