Several weeks ago his condition was critical but it improved and he was able to be around his home and the store until the day of his death.
Born in Cass county, he moved to Goodland with his parents when he was five years old. From there the family moved to Mt. Ayr and later to Foresman. Mr. Brown had been in the general merchandise business there for the past 42 years.
On October 6, 1835 he was united in marriage to Sylvia Denniston. After their marriage they lived in Goodland for eight years.
Surviving besides the wife are a son, Cecil Brown, of Rensselaer and two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Cain, of Rensselaer, and Mrs. Hazel Haynes, of Kentland.
Funeral services were held at the Foresman Methodist church this Thursday afternoon at two o'clock and burial was made in Riverside cemetery.
