Nancy Caroline Baird was born in Wilson County, Tennessee.
After her father migrated to West Tennessee and settled in Gibson County near the present-day city of Milan, she and her husband, William Andrew McCartney, also moved to Gibson County.
According to old family Bible records, Caroline died on August 4, 1851.
Her father died about a month later and was interred at the old Baird Family Cemetery in southern Milan. Her husband William later remarried and is buried at Patterson Cemetery east of Bradford. It is suspected that Caroline was buried at one of these two cemeteries.
