Hollidaysburg Register, August 11, 1875:
"LEAMER, AN OLD CITIZEN DEPARTED
Mr. Henry Leamer, whose death on Monday, 2nd inst., was briefly recorded last week, was one of our oldest and best known citizens. He was born at Canoe Creek, a few miles east of this place, on the 27th of September 1797, and was conseqently nearly 78 years old at the time of his departure. He resided in this borough about 40 years and was a citizen of this county, all his life. For a number of years he kept a hotel at Canoe Creek, and was a merchant in Hollidaysburg, for many years. He was in declining health for several months past, and died from cancer of the stomach, after much suffering from this painful disease. Mr. Leamer, was, in his day, an energetic business man and had acquired quite a competency, was an active citizen of our place and his departure will be lamented by numerous relatives and friends in various sections of this county. Mr. Leamer, by his will, has left a large estate, divided among his heirs, and we understand, has bequeathed $1,000 to the Lutheran Church of this place."
