Obituary: Viola Lowry Rites Monday

Funeral services of Mrs. Viola S. Lowry, 85, of Callender, were conducted on Monday afternoon at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Callender. Interment was in the Callender cemetery.

Mrs. Lowry died Friday night, July 8, 1983, at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center in Fort Dodge where she had been a resident for a few years.

The Rev. James Hougen officiated at the services. Music consisted of a vocal duet by Susan Peterson and Anne Peterson, with Mrs. Hazel Gabrielson as the organist.

Pallbearers were Mark Hanson, Tom Dorsey, Tim Nerhus, Marty Hanson, Joe Dorsey and Scott Nerhus. Mrs. Paul Peterson, Mrs. Walter Petersen, Mrs. Clarice Phinney and Mrs. Max Palmer had charge of the flowers.

Survivors include daughters, Mrs. Maxine Dorsey, Callender; Mrs. Harry Bryson, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Dale Hanson, Gowrie; Mrs. Richard L. Peterson, Callender; Mrs. Valdon Nerhus, Badger; sons, Kalcie Lowry, Callender; Wayne Lowry, Fort Dodge; Eugene Lowry, Corona, Calif.; sisters, Mrs. Marie Cochran, Fort Dodge; Mrs Dale Reichert, Emmetsburg; brothers, Martin Evanson, Arlington, Texas; Samuel Evanson, Fort Dodge.

Viola Lowry Evans on was born in Callender, graduated from the Callender school and also attended Tobin Business College in Fort Dodge. She was employed by an abstract company in Fort Dodge prior to marrying Kelly Lowry in 1921 at the home of her parents east of Callender.

They lived in Somers, Moorland and Callender areas all of their married lives. Mr. Lowry died in 1958, and Mrs. Lowry remained in Callender until moving to the Tompkins Memorial Health Center in March 1983.

Mrs. Lowry was a member of the A.L.C.W. women's circle of the church and also the American Legion Auxiliary of Callender.
