Mr. Hugh Palmer Warren, 84, of Washington, passed away July 14, 2014 in St. Mary's Hospital in Athens. A native of Dublin, Georgia, he was the son of the late Early E. and Sallie Mae Thaggard Warren. His wife of fifty-three years, Sue Smith Warren, preceded him in death in April of 2011. He was also predeceased by his seven brothers. Mr. Warren graduated from Berry College and the University of Georgia and served in the U.S. Airforce where he achieved the rank of Captain. He served as the Hospital Administrator of Wills Memorial Hospital from 1958 – 1988. Mr. Warren was a member of The First United Methodist Church and the Willing Workers Sunday School Class. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 17th at 2:00pm in The First United Methodist Church with Rev. Gale Seibert and Rev. Thomas Hall officiating. Joe Hardy, Joey Fievet, Ray Hardy, Ralph Bray, Buddy Lindsey and Jack Leard will serve as pallbearers. Members of The Willing Workers Sunday School Class will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memorial Park in Elberton, Georgia.

Survivors include Daughter and son in law, Carol and Phil McLanahan, of Elberton; son and daughter in law, Hugh and Camilla Warren of Avondale Estates; three granddaughters, Catherine Warren, Claire Warren and Emily McLanahan; and two sisters, Helen Hudson, of Dublin and Charlotte Stembridge, of Macon.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 16th from 6 – 8pm at the funeral home.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the sitters, Bertha Fuller, Tara Willis and the staff of CSRA Private Duty, Inc. for their kindness and compassionate care.
