My great-grandmother Lydia Caroline (Kumler) Kagey was born 1860 in Fairfield County, Ohio, daughter of Henry Kumler Jr. (1807 - 1884) and Anna Marie Haley (1825 - 1893). In 1887 Caroline married Willis Kagey of Fairfield County, son of Stephen Kagey (1833 - 1921) and Mary Warner Kagey (1835 - 1901). Willis and Caroline had three children: Harry Leon, Mabel, and Edgar. In 1892 when Willis died of Typhoid at age 32 they were living in Columbus where Willis worked as a bookkeeper. Caroline then brought the children back to her parents' farm. The names of Willis, Caroline, and Edgar are engraved on three sides of the same monument at St. Michael's cemetery north of Basil-Baltimore. Harry Leon and Mabel are buried with their respective spouses at Forest Lawn cemetery in Columbus. - Michael Kagay
