OBITUARY OF MRS MARY J WHEELER

Mary Jane Ports was born in Baltimore, Maryland June 16 1843 and departed this life at the home of her daughter Mra Jay P Manatt of Brooklyn, IA April 16, 1926 at the age of 82 years and 10 months. In 1860 she was united in marriage to Samuel B Wheeler at Baltimore where they resided until coming to Iowa in 1865 locating near Victor. To this union were born thirteen children. The husband and four children Laura Nina Noble and Jennie preceded her in death. She united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in early life to which she remained faithful until the end. She was a devoted wife and kind loving mother. Those who mourn her loss are nine children; Mrs Charles Howard Billings MT; Mrs Frank Pratt Luffock TX; Elmer E Wheeler Pond Creek OK; David P Wheeler Dallas IA; Warren Wheeler Belle Plaine, IA; Allen T Wheeler New Sharon, IA and Mrs Frank Roberts Mrs Jay Manatt and Noah G Wheeler all of Brooklyn, IA. Thirty-two grandchildren; thirty-nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, two sisters Mrs George Barton and Amanda Bell Baltimore, MD; two brothers Oliver Ports SC and Will Ports Dayton OH. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Methodist Episcopal Church the Rev W J Fowler being in charge with burial in the IOOF Cemetery. Pallbearers were all grandsons of Mrs Wheeler being Samuel Wheeler Earl Wheeler Dewey Wheeler Sam Courtney Harry Thorpe & Harold Manatt.
