Hiram Simpson Wooden was the son of Isaac & Rebecca (Stephenson) Wooden. When he was a child his family lived in Fountain County, Indiana, & about 1840 they relocated to Hill Township in Carroll County, Missouri. They were among the earliest settlers in Hill Township, along with Thomas Sugg & Dorsey Miles, all arriving within several years after the founders (brothers George, Richard,& Nathaniel Hill) arrived about 1836.
On September 24, 1851, Hiram married Martha Ellen Purcell in Livingston County, Missouri.
To this union were born: Olive Celestia Wooden Reed, Livingston Euphrates Wooden, Ivy Ellen Wooden: 1859-??, Hulda J Wooden: 1860- ?, & Ida Simpson Wooden Blann.
After the death of Martha, Hiram married Synthia M Bates on Mar 4, 1867, in Livingston County, Missouri. This marriage ended in divorce after a short time.
Hiram then married Mrs. Emily Lucille (June) Shoe on December 23, 1868, in Livingston County, Missouri. To this union were born: Lovie Rebecca Wooden Tucker, Junietta W "Junie" Wooden Tucker, William Benjamin Wooden, Minerva Ann Wooden Benson & Rosa May Wooden Blakeley.
Hiram ran a saw mill, east of the Oak Hill School House in north Carroll County, Missouri. Sometime between 1880 & 1900, Hiram, Emily, & family relocated to Idaho & then Oregon. They may have travelled with the family of Hiram's brother, Isaac Harrison Wooden, who relocated to Oregon about the same time. Hiram & Emily died just a matter of weeks apart in 1911 in Linn County, Oregon.
