Mr. Hester died Monday afternoon in a Rusk nursing home after a long illness.
A native of Rusk, he had lived most of his life in Alto. He was a retired lumberman and was a member of the First Baptist church.
Survivors include his wife, Mattie Hester of Alto; four daughters, Mrs. Hazel Brunet of California, Mrs. Jo Bobbie Corn, Mrs. Johnnie Mae Gilcrease of San Augustine, Mrs. Tommie Jean Anderson of Florida; two sons, Roscoe Hester of Alto, Marvin Hester of Elgin; one sister, Mrs. Lora Brewer of Dallas, two half-brothers, Otis Hester and Melton Hester both of Beaumont; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
