W.S. “Bill” Blakemore, 80, of 2008 Walnut, died at 7 a.m. Friday in a local hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Blakemore was a retired hardware salesman with headquarters in Greenville for 35 years. He retired in 1954 due to poor health.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in the Coker-Mathews-Peters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. W.T. Johnson and the Rev. C.B. Garrett officiating.

Burial will be in he Forest Park Cemetery.

Mr. Blakemore was born Jan. 30, 1884, the son of E.D. Blakemore and Sarah Elizabeth Robinson. He married Sally Crockett Feb. 28, 1915 in Floyd, Tex. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Crockett.

Mr. and Mrs. Blakemore had lived at the Walnut Street address for 47 years and during this time Mr. Blakemore had been active in the Lee Street Methodist Church and also was a member of the Masonic Lodge. He had served many hardware stores in Hunt County during his years as a salesman.

Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Davidson of Terrell and Mrs. C.B. Andrews of Athens; three sons, William S. Blakemore Jr. of Abilene, James E. Blakemore of Abilene (sic), James E. Blakemore of Waxahachie and Ray Blakemore of Shreveport; two sisters, Mrs. Allie Ellis of Holland, Tex., and Mrs. Cora Hutchens of Porterville, Calif.; 10 grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be W.A. Butler, Lane Reneau, Ellis Dial, J.T. Riley, W.E. Williams, John B. Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Men of the Wesley Class, of Lee St. Methodist Church.

The family requests that any memorials be sent to the Hunt County Cancer Society.
