Mrs. Mattie Hasse, formerly of Fairbury, died early Saturday morning, June 11, 1960, at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 23 days. About 2 1/2 years ago she had a stroke which left her a semi-invalid.
Mattie Aden, daughter of the late Adde and Minnie Aden, was born Jan. 18, 1879, four miles east of Gladstone. She was baptized and confirmed at Zion Evangelical church east of Gladstone where she remained a faithful member for most of her active life. She was very active in the Women's Guild.
In August, 1903, she married Charles F. Hasse and to them two children were born, a son dying in infancy.
Mrs. Hasse spent most of her early life and married life on farms in the Fairbury community.
Since the death of her husband Jan. 29, 1941, she made her home in Beatrice with her daughter.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, infant son, one brother and one sister.
Surviving are her daughter, Laura, Mrs. Peter Junker of Beatrice; three sisters, Miss Margaret Aden of Fairbury, Mrs. Anna Carstens of Elko, Nev., and Mrs. Minnie Reesman of Falls City, Nebr., and other relatives.
Funeral services were Tuesday with Rev. Willard Lampe officiating at brief services in Beatrice. Rev. H. Henning and Rev. Eugene Walther officiated at afternoon services in Zion United Church of Christ, east of Gladstone. Miss Sharon Junker and Mrs. Walter Siemsen sang and the Women's Guild sang a hymn, Mrs. Paul Zimmerman being accompanist. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Henry Schoenrock, Charles Kapke and Emil Dux of Fairbury, J. P. Klumpp jr., Edward J. Koch and John W. Frerichs of Beatrice.
