CARNEY-Isaiah 40:31 they who wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.
Thomas Weisend Safford II, 64, of Carney, peacefully passed away at home on May 15th, 2014.
Tom was born to Georgianna and Thomas Safford on November, 24th 1949. He graduated from Rapid River School in 1968. He also attended West Point Academy. In 1972 he graduated from Northern Michigan University with a Chemistry and Biology focus that resulted in a Secondary Educational degree.
Following graduation he worked as an educator and later became the principal of Carney-Nadeau Public School. For the last 35 years he has enjoyed providing passionate qualitative service to his State Farm clients.
Thomas was an active participant in the Carney Evangelical Free Church where he expressed his love and faith in Jesus Christ. In his leisure time he enjoyed golf, snowmobiling, riding his Harley, hunting, exercise and nutrition, and spending time with family and friends.
Thomas is survived by and is the: beloved son of Georgiana Mae Safford; the faithful and integral husband of Alice Marie (Field) Safford; the true and loving father and grandfather of Jill and Blake Thomas Latta; siblings, Cindy (Peter) Brock, Jenny Safford, Reverend Susan (Reverend Mike Kennedy) Safford Gaul, and brother Sim (Martha) Safford; and multiple uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Thomas was preceded in death by a daughter Angela Mae Safford; brothers, Klint and Daniel "Duke" Safford; and his father, Thomas Weisend Safford.
A genuine sweetness has gone out of this world and he will be missed.
Visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Central time) on Thursday May 22, at the Carney Evangelical Free Church with funeral service at 5:30 pm.
A brief graveside service will follow at the Carney Free Church Cemetery with dinner following at the church.
