Chief Petty Officer Alden Louis Magee, a member of the U.S. coast guard and a resident of Poquonoc Bridge, Connecticut, died suddenly of a heart attack on the morning of July 18 at his home there. He was 38 years of age. Funeral services were conducted on July 21 in New London, Connecticut and interment was made in Mt. Auburn cemetery, Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Relatives who attended the funeral services were his father, J.S. Magee of Culbertson; his brothers, Don and Dale Magee, and his sisters, Mrs. George Carpenter and Mrs. O.O. MacDougal. J.S. Magee remained in Connecticut to assist his daughter-in-law, Mrs. Alden Magee, for two or three weeks.

Alden Magee, son of Jacob S. Magee and the late Mrs. J.S. Magee of Culbertson, was born on March 30, 1914 in Ruskin, Nebraska. He attended a rural school in the Stone church vicinity south of Culbertson, and while a student in the local high school he was active in athletics.

He had been a member of the U.S. coast guard for 17 years and had made his home in Poquonoc Bridge, Connecticut since being assigned to that station four years ago.

He was preceded in death by his mother. Surviving him besides his father, are his wife, Ruth; two sons, Wayne and Ronald Magee of Poquonoc Bridge, Connecticut; four brothers, Homer and Donald Magee, both of Cheyenne, Wyoming; George and Dale Magee, both of Denver, Colorado; and three sisters, Mrs. George Carpenter of Denver, Mrs. Olen MacDougal of Grand Island, Nebraska; and Mrs. Fred Byer of Burlington, Colorado.
