After a long illness with Bright's disease, which had caused her to be a semi-invalid for about three years, Mrs. J.S. Magee passed peacefully to the Great Beyond at her home here on Monday evening.

The death of Mrs. Magee followed that of her 30-year-old son, Keith, by less than a month, he having been taken away suddenly on May 11 while undergoing a minor operation in the McCook hospital.

Mrs. Magee, nee Emma Evalina Edeal, was born on July 21, 1886 in Phelps county, Nebraska where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in marriage with Jake S. Magee at Kearney, Nebraska on February 19, 1904. They were the parents of ten children, eight of whom survive their mother. Besides Keith, who died recently, one child passed away in infancy.

The Magee family lived at Kearney, Amherst, and Ruskin, Nebraska for short periods of time before coming to the Culbertson community about 30 years ago. Their home here was on a farm in the Stone church neighborhood south of Culbertson until about seven years ago, when they gave up farming and moved to this village.

Mrs. Magee was a devoted wife and mother and also possessed of a cheerful, neighborly disposition that gained her many devoted friends. The sympathy of our community goes out to the family so deeply bereaved twice within the past few weeks.

Surviving Mrs. Magee are her husband and the following sons and daughters: Homer L. of Cheyenne, Wyoming; Mrs. Opal Byer of Burlington, Colorado; George C. of Denver; Dale W. of Culbertson; Alden L., serving in the U.S. Coast Guard at Galveston, Texas; Donald W. of Tacoma, Washington; Mrs. Margaret Bash of McCook, Nebraska; and Mrs. Madeline McDougal of Twin Falls, Idaho. Also surviving her are ten grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Mabel Masters of Bell, California; Mrs. Verna Anderson of Sioux City, Iowa; Alvin Edeal of Holdrege, Nebraska; Henry Edeal of Lexington, Nebraska; and Walter Edeal of California.

All of the children of Mrs. Magee, with the exception of Donald W. and Mrs. Madeline McDougal, are here for the funeral services, which are to be conducted by Rev. F.E. Schroeder in Zion Evangelical church this (Thursday) afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Culbertson cemetery.
