SHIRLEY McDEVITT Obituary

75, of rural Mattoon, Illinois passed away at 9:55 A. M., Sunday, October 14, 2012, in the Mattoon Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. Shirley was born May 3, 1937, in Odin, Illinois the daughter of Raymond F. and Mary Ann ( Lukaseck ) Deadmond, Sr.. She married Charles P. McDevitt in 1961 he passed away in 1973. She later married Louis E. Henne and he passed away in 1992. Shirley was employed by Western Union in the surrounding area. She leaves two sons, Steven McDevitt and ( Kay ) of rural Mattoon, IL and Scott McDevitt and his wife Susan of Mattoon, IL; two daughters, Susan Watts of Mattoon, IL and Sheila Poffinbarger and her husband Russell of Mattoon, IL; two brothers, Larry Deadmond and his wife Nancy of Fort Collins, CO and Theodore Deadmond and wife Mavis of Sullivan, IL; three sisters, Frances Clevenger of Toledo, IL, Jeanette -Sheffer-Gullion of Mattoon, IL and Sheryl Richey of Mattoon, IL; nine grandchildren, Shane Santrock, Christine Epperson, Dustin Watts, Michael Epperson, April Watts, Alicia Santrock, Raymond Watts, Austin McDevitt and Jaden McDevitt; four step- grandchildren, Shane Louthan, Dustin Louthan, Nick Poffinbarger and Samantha English; eight great grandchildren, Chandler, Kyra, Jaxon, Kieara, Caiden, Sophia, Kyndel and Karson; nine step great grandchildren, Kameron, Tyson, Courtney, Abby, Cody, Dazin, Degin, Jacob and Lily; and many Nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by, her parents; one daughter, Sandra Lynn McDevitt; two brothers, James Deadmond and Raymond Deadmond, Jr,. Shirley was a loving daughter, mother, sister, grandma and great grandma. She loved gardening especially flowers, and being outdoors. She also loved spending time laughing and enjoying her family. Shirley will be sadly missed by her family and friends. In Lue of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to the benefit of Michael Epperson ( grandson ), who is battling thyroid cancer, F.B.O. Michael Epperson at the First Federal Savings and Loan - 1111 Charleston Ave., Mattoon, IL 61938. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday October 18, 2012, in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL, with the Rev. Steve Massengill of Neoga, IL, officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the services at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Neoga Memorial Cemetery of Neoga, IL. on line condolence may be expressed at swengel-odell.com
