Garry S. Allison, 96
Chester -- Garry S. Allison, 96, of Carolina Avenue died Monday, Dec. 14, 1998, at the Boyce Pavilion in City Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Chester May 5, 1902, a son of the late Thomas B. and Gertrude Martin Allison. A life-long resident of Chester, he managed a tourist home before retirement. Earlier, he was employed at the former Werkheiser's Grocery Store and Goddard's Bakery. He was a member of the First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Harmon Allison and nine brothers and sisters. He is survived by two sons, Virgil Allison of Sarasota, Fla., and James Allison of East Liverpool; four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Minister Jerry Hillyer of the church will conduct services at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Arner Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. The family suggests memorial tributes take the form of contributions to the church.
