  Julia Hartmann Best, 88, of Collinsville, died at 5:25 p.m. Tuesday in Pleasant Rest Nursing Home at Collinsville.
  Mrs. Best was born Nov. 29, 1887, at Collinsville. Her parents were the late Henry and Dina Horstmann Hartmann. She was married to Edward Best, who preceded her in death April 1, 1969.
  She is survived by sons, Walter E. Best of St. Charles and Melvin Best of Collinsville, daughters, Mrs. Roy (Edna) Wallace of Collinsville, Mrs. Raymond (Alberta) Neuenschwander of Edwardsville and Mrs. Robert (Irma) Irrig of Collinsville, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, Irvin Hartman of Collinsville.
  She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church at Collinsville, and the church's ladies aid society and missionary guild. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
  Friends may call after 2 p.m. Thursday at the Herr Funeral Home.
  Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Holy Cross Church, with the Rev. John Koch officiating.
  Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery at Pleasant Ridge.
