John A. Severson was born in Elk Lake township on September 19th, 1901, where he received his schooling and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith by Pastor Ivar Sanberg. He later moved to Brandon and also lived in LaGrand. Since leaving home he has resided in various places, Alexandria and Minneapolis for some time most of the time he followed the carpenter trade. His parents and one brother, Raymond, have preceded him in death. Left to mourn his loss are six sisters and one brother: Clara (Mrs. Henry Arntson) of Moe; Annie (Mrs. Robert Botner) of Moe; Emma (Mrs. C. N. Sorlien); Jennie (Mrs. Carl Anderson) of Enderlin, N. Dak.; Mabel (Mrs. Edwin Olson) of Barrett; Louisa (Mrs. Clifford Daub) of Spokane, Wash.; Selmer of LaGrand. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Sept. 4th at 1 o'clock from the Anderson Funeral Home and at 2 o'clock from the East Moe Lutheran Church, Rev. A. T. Tjornhom officiating. Pallbearers were: Edwin Torkelson, Ole Torkelson, John Svee, Alfred Walstead, Bernhard Olson and Oscar Helgeson. Interment took place in the East Moe cemetery.
