Mrs. Severson was born in Varmland, Sweden, on November 18, 1865, daughter of John and Keisa Mattson. She came to America with her parents at the age of five years. They settled in Minneapolis for a short time and later moved to Holmes City township, where she grew to womanhood. On December 1, 1888 she was united in marriage to Amund Severson and they made their home at Tintah, Minn., and later moved to Barrett, Minn. To the union of Mr. and Mrs. Severson nine children were born, eight of whom survive: Selmer Severson of Garfield; Clara (Mrs. Henry Arntson) of Garfield; Annie (Mrs. Robert Botner) of Garfield; Emma (Mrs. Clarence M. Sorlien) of Enderlin, N.D.; Jennie (Mrs. Carl Anderson) of Fairmount, N.D.; Mabel (Mrs. Edwin Olson) of Barrett; John Severson of Minneapolis; Louise (Mrs. Clifford Daub) of Enderlin, N.D. Raymond preceded his mother in death on March 19, 1928 at the age of 17 years. Her husband also preceded her in death on April 3, 1927. She also leaves to mourn her loss, two sisters, Mary (Mrs. Charlie Swanson) of South Prairie, Wash., and Nine (Mrs. Olaus Torkelson) of Garfield, and eleven grandchildren. She was a member of Our Saviour's Lutheran church at Barrett. Services were held at 1 o'clock at the Robert Botner residence and 2:00 o'clock at the East Moe church; Rev. C. B. Bestul officiating. Pallbearers were six sons-in-law: Henry Arntson, Robert Botner, Clarence Sorlien, Clifford Daub, Carl Anderson and Edwin Olson.
