After an illness of many months duration Amund Severson slept peacefully away Sunday morning at 3 o'clock, April 3. The cause of his death was cancer of the neck and throat, from which he suffered greatly but with patience and was prepared and longing to depart form the world and to be with his Saviour. At the time of death he was 65 years, 6 months and 20 days.
Amiund Severson was born in Gal Haling dal, Norway, Sept. 14, 1861, and came to America in June 1881. December 1, 1888, he was united in marriage with Caroline Mattson and to this union nine children were born, all of whom, together with the bereaved widow, are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving husband and father. The children are, Selmer Severson, (Clara), Mrs. Henry Arntson, (Annie) Mrs. Robert Botner all of Garfield (Emma) Mrs. Marions Sarlien of Enderlin, N.D., (Jennie) Mrs. Carl Anderson of Glenville, S.D., (Mabel) Mrs Edwin Olson of Garfield, John, Louise and Raymond at home. He also leaves five grandchildren and two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Anna M. Peterson and Nels Severson of Barrett; Mrs. Christian Engen, Alberta, Can., and Halvor Severson, Minneapolis. After his marriage they went to farming near Tintah, Minn., where they lived for ten years, afterward buying a farm south of Barrett, where they continued farming twenty-four years and then moved to Douglas county and spent the remaining three years. Funeral services were held from the Severson home at one o'clock and the East Moe church at two; conducted by Rev. Edw. Livingston and Rev. Ivar Sandberg. Interment was made in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Olaus Torkelson, Salvor Gulson, Andrew Walstad, Nels Arntson, Peter Sarlien of Enderlin and Ivar Olson of Barrett.
